A random letter is extracted and then words starting with that letter are written in the selected category. Among the most used categories we find: personal names, things (objects), cities, verbs, animals, fruits, flowers and plants, colors, singers, nationalities, professions, famous or historical people, etc.
Each player will need a piece of paper on which a grid will be drawn:.
The grid will have as many columns as the selection of the category to be played and a final column for calculating the total number; the number of rows in the grid is not predefined and depends only on the number of games to be played. Finally, it is necessary to prepare another sheet of paper where all letters will be written in random positions. Usually, more difficult letters (such as J, K, Q, W, X, Y, etc.) are excluded.
A random player picks up the paper with the letters without looking at it and makes a gesture with a pen. The letter closest to the symbol is chosen as the letter of the current game and crossed out.
The game starts immediately after choosing the letter: all players have to complete the whole row of the grid by finding a word for each category. Example of the letter L.
Name: Laura (Laura)
What: Lantern
City: Livorno
Profession: Bookseller, the
Fruit: Lemon.
etc.
The first player to finish the game covers his grid and counts up to 10/15 seconds. At the end of the countdown, all other players freeze and the scoring phase begins.
