The goal of the game is to solve puzzles and earn gold coins to build and decorate a virtual aquarium. Players can use in-game currency to purchase different types of fish, decorations and "comfort" items to make the environment more comfortable for their pet fish. Filling in all three gauges that measure progress will unlock a trophy: Bronze, Silver or Gold. Decorative and themed tanks can be used as smartphone screensavers.
Levels are based on the criteria of the "match three" mechanic: players swap two adjacent gems to match three or more. Each round is played on a different grid, and earning each gold tile by matching the gems at least once poses a challenge. Some tiles are locked and have different colors; to unlock them, players should match gems multiple times. When three or more objects are matched at the same time, a bonus appears: firecrackers, depth bombs, dynamite, or lightning bolts. The puzzle board should be cleared before the time limit ends, otherwise the game will return to the aquarium instead of advancing to the next level. The platform also offers minigames, holiday-themed upgrades, Pearl Tournament challenges, and a 3D simulation of a diving mask that allows users to dive into the deep sea. By 2019, Playrix is changing the game concept to "freemium", where various currencies such as diamonds can also be purchased in the app.
